Dave entered the financial services industry in 1987 after taking Economics and Psychology at the University of Winnipeg. Always offering independent advice, he has been a senior advisor with The Berkshire Group, Vice President of Summit Insurance Services, and currently President and CEO of Orca Wealth and Insurance Services, he is supported by a team of administration, technical, and underwriting specialists whose teamwork and follow-through are setting new standards of service excellence in building lifetime relationships. Dave is known for coining the term "Core then explore" about creating a comprehensive and balanced investment portfolio or designing a sleek employee benefits package. The planning and design begin with a ten-minute "Personal Viewpoint" questionnaire.

Gavin grew up in the Cowichan Valley and graduated from high school in Duncan, He feels it especially meaningful for me to now be serving the community he calls home. After high school, he pursued his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at West Texas A&M University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at university, he balanced a full academic schedule with collegiate athletics, serving as a leader of the West Texas baseball team. That experience helped shape his leadership, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure—qualities that he brings with him into his new career in finance and insurance.

Outside of the office, he enjoys staying active through hiking and trying new sports. He also has a passion for making coffee, experimenting with different brews, and winding down with a good film. These hobbies help keep him balanced and curious—two things he values both personally and professionally.
